How We Can Use And Control The Mountain Cedar Tree

The Mountain Cedar tree, otherwise known as Ashe juniper, grows in some of the southern states of the USA, and is a constant source of controversy. The tree is thoroughly detested in some quarters, as people blame it for causing allergies. Others disagree and point to other reasons why the delicate ecology of the region should be out of balance. Certainly, cedar is a tree which has provided many great benefits to humanity, and it has the potential to do so in the future. The big question is how we harvest the tree and take advantage of its properties.

There are many negative reports on the mountain cedar tree. There are those who believe that it is responsible for aggravating allergies to such an extent that people need to stay inside when pollen counts are at their highest. They are advised to stay indoors any time before 10:00am, and to stay indoors throughout any bright sunny day. Given that Texas has a lot of bright sunny days, and people have to get to work in the morning, this is scarcely practical advice.

The great debate on mountain cedar is by no means one sided, and many spring to the tree's defense. They point to the fact that the tree is an evergreen, that it is used as food by local wildlife, and that it will even grow in Texas during times of drought. They also point to the tree's usefulness to mankind, as the wood can be used for so many things. Finally, it is suggested that although the tree pollen does aggravate allergies, this is itself a symptom of degraded soil quality, and the tree is not to blame.

Mountain cedar can certainly be made into some very aesthetic and unique furnishings. As with any other cedar, the wood is easy to work using natural materials. There are many products available which are routinely made with this wood, and there are also craftsmen who will produce items for you on demand. If you want a soft, natural wooden look, but something which is a bit different from the norm, this mountain cedar furniture has a lot to recommend it.

While the mountain cedar has come under fire for being a cause of allergy suffering, the true cause appears to be in the state of the soil. The cedar trees themselves are potentially a vital part of our future. They are useful for so many functions both within and outside the home, that their loss would be a disaster. They are a source of wood which can be made renewable, giving us a resource which can last indefinitely. In a world which needs renewable resources very badly, it would be folly to allow a mis-diagnosis of an allergy problem to take away a valuable resource. Let's heal the soil and cure the problem at source, so we can still use the mountain cedar.
